The project represents an ironic view of contemporary relationships where a couple has found a way to coexist in a common toxic cloud, or has worked out a way to adapt to one of the partner’s toxic natures.
The heads of the dogs and the cloud can be displayed in various arrangements, so it is up to the observer to decide which of the partners is toxic or whether they both share the toxic cloud.
The group sculpture refers to a pair of flat back dogs popular in England during Victorian times, when they were often placed above a fireplace symbolising happy family.
